As of today we have disabled guest access to the forums (expect this one)
If you want to read topics you'll need to register an account, which is a free and straightforward process.
Apologies for any inconvenience this causes.

It's always been that you have to have an account to post.
We've now changed it so you also need and account, and be logged in to view as well.

Are there problems with the updated software? Such as new topics not being listed in the recently viewed box?

Yes, and very annoying it is too. It always seems to be one topic behind. I'm working on a fix but a temporary solution is to use the View New Posts links at the top of the page.

Just to add to this...
All new user accounts need to be authorised by an admin. This is done within 24 hours but is usually within a couple of hours.

Just a quick note. I tend to use common PC's, so I don't like to stay logged in to sites. But in order to read any replies to the topic I just posted, I NEED to now stay logged into this site. Bit of an annoyance.
Just saying.

You don't need to stay logged in, you can log in and out at each visit.

If the internet Bots, such as Google Bot, can trawl the forum reading/indexing then anyone can do the same .. with an account. You just need to know how to configure your browser to "look like a Google Bot" to the forum software ... its not that difficult.
Having said that ... its much easier to register an account.
